Big Boy Bed

Here's a post I hoped not to write until age 3. I'm not one of those who feel the need to rush my kid to the next stage just to say he did so at such a young age. Big deal...they'll do it eventually. With that being said, I was hoping Tyler would stay in his crib until age 3. Not the case. Thursday night at the Duttera's house...he walked out of his pack n play. I mean walked out. He didn't even struggle to get out of it. We watched him do it--as if he were on ground level. So the rest of our visit was not easy since he had no where to sleep. We arrived home Sunday hoping he wouldn't be able to get out of his crib but he did. We even dropped the crib mattress all the way to the floor. The crib rails were above his head--he still got out. Reluctantly, we modified the crib to it's next stage--the toddler bed. He had nothing for it! So, we put a full size mattress on the floor which is where he's been sleeping since Sunday. I have to lay there til he falls asleep just to get him to stay in the bed. Not fun---since I end up falling asleep too.

He's getting use to it though because the duration of time is getting shorter and shorter. Today is only day six and he went down for a nap all by himself. Granted--he slept on the floor by the door but nonetheless, he's napping. I did put him in his big boy bed so we'll see how he does in that! This has been the hardest part of having a baby thus far. To all of my friends that have been jealous of Tyler's amazing sleeping habits....well, we're even!
